cups-server-common software package provides Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - server common files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cups-server-common
cups-server-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cups-server-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cups-server-common *
You will get with cups-server-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
